In practice
Four things move the figure, in order of weight. Hours on the ground come first: a half day runs from the preparations to the end of the drinks reception, a full day from the morning nerves to the first dances — ten to twelve hours in June. Distance comes second; travel is included within 50 km of Toulouse or Évry-Courcouronnes and billed at cost beyond, with the number written into the quote before you sign. Then a second photographer, worth it above roughly 150 guests. Then extras — engagement session, day-after shoot, printed album — none of them compulsory.
Regional differences are real. Paris and the Riviera sit noticeably higher than the southwest for identical coverage, which is why couples marrying in Occitanie often find their budget goes further than they expected.
Compare quotes on what they state in writing, not on the headline number: hours of coverage, how many edited images you receive, the delivery deadline, the private gallery, high-resolution files with printing rights, and what happens to the files if a card fails. A cheap quote delivering 150 images is not cheaper than a dearer one delivering 600.
One model deserves a warning. Some photographers price the day low and charge again for the files afterwards. It exists, it is legal, and it is not how we work — your files are part of the price.

Common questions
Do we have to provide a meal for the photographer?+
It is the usual arrangement in France and caterers price a plat prestataire well below a guest plate. What matters more than the food is the timing: we eat when you eat, in the same room or next door, so that nobody is queuing at a buffet when the speeches start.
Who owns the pictures once the invoice is paid?+
Under French copyright the author's rights stay with the photographer and cannot be sold away. What you buy is a licence: high-resolution files you may keep, print, and share with family and guests for as long as you like. Anything commercial — a brand, a magazine, a venue's advertising — needs a separate written agreement.
